Visit from Sunshine Coast Council for grant support
Today we met with Steph and Michael from Sunshine Coast Council, who provided extensive support and advice about applying for the LEG Enviro Grant this year. We hope the grant will help us eradicate weeds in conjunction with planting trees, extending the riparian rainforest and restoring native vegetation across the farm.
It was an incredibly informative and inspiring site visit. Even if we don’t receive the grant, I feel as though we now have a plan we can begin implementing.
It is amazing how many people are actively involved in protecting what remains of the natural environment and genuinely interested in helping us do the same here. It is heartening to know.
We also learned that when weed eradication is undertaken carefully, it creates space for the rainforest to regenerate naturally. That is pretty phenomenal and I can already see it wanting to do just that. There is an abundance of tiny native seedlings on the forest floor, waiting for the chance to grow up!
