sticks and seeds
11 OCTOBER, 2013
Sticks from prunings and other sources have been laid along the swale. It's quite surprising how many sticks are needed - two barrow loads have barely filled the bottom on the ditch - but it's enough to allow rain water to flow into the ground once it passes through the top layer of mulch I will place on top to double as a path.
I have also planted the seeds on the bare patches of dirt throughout the garden (of which there are plenty at the moment) and covered them with a thin sprinkling of lucerne to stop the birds from picking at them. Now it's just a matter of waiting for rain and perhaps the occasional sprinkler session.
